SHALOM KOSHER MARKET was established in 1974, when Max & Anita Dekelbaum bought KMS Kosher Butcher Shop. The name was changed at that time and was only half the size. They offered only fresh meats and chicken as well as deli, smoked fish and sliced cheeses. Thirty years ago, there were very little kosher packaged grocery items available to consumers.
Today is a different story. In early 1985, the Dekelbaum's broke through and doubled their size. Max and Anita have passed the store down to a second generation. Their two sons, Larry and Steve started working right out of school and Shaukat Karimi joined the ranks close to 25 years ago. Anita and Max also have 5 grandchildren. They are sure that at some point there will be a third generation to follow in their footsteps.
If you have not visited our store or would like to learn more about our selection, we invite you take a brief tour of the store with us…
As you come into the store and make a right turn you can find the Deli Department. There you can buy a pound of corned beef, which is pickled and cooked in the store as well as all the other deli meats and salads you can imagine. You can walk to the other end of the deli department and find the smoked fish and finally the sliced cheese area. Across from the deli is a refrigerated case that has a full selection of salads, eggs, cholov yisroel milk and lots more.
A few more steps puts you right in front of the produce case and will allow you to pick up fresh fruit and vegetables.
At that point you can look toward the Meat Department and select from fresh meats, bison, lamb, veal and poultry. Separated on the top shelf you can find a nice variety of fresh fish. All the packages are sealed, weighed and priced for your convenience. If you should need something that you do not see, you can always ask one of the butchers and they will gladly cut and package everything for your order. We also fill orders upon request and will happily freeze anything for travel. We have sent food items as far as Hawaii.
Once you leave the meat department, you can find an array of kosher groceries, packaged, refrigerated and frozen.
Before approaching our Bakery, you will pass by our isle of Kosher wines. We have a wide variety of Wines whether it be for formal dining, casual lunch or kiddish.
That will finally bring you to the Bakery Counter. SHALOM'S BAKERY IS TOTALLY PAREVE and customers can purchase challahs for Shabbos or bagels for Sunday brunch. You will find a beautiful bakery case filled with delectable pastries and cakes to satisfy your sweet tooth. We will gladly take special cake orders for birthdays, anniversaries, sheet cakes, Bar Mitzvah Torah Scroll cakes, and Wedding cakes. We also have the ability to create EDIBLE IMAGES. You can bring in your favorite picture, and we will copy it onto a sheet cake and return the photo to you OR pick from our book of many different copy written characters ie, Disney, Harry Potter and Hannah Montana!
As you walk to the check out counter you can pick up some candies. Whether it is for Purim or an Auf Ruff, Pesach or grandchildren you will be able to find just the right thing.
Our registers are state of the art and can handle any order efficiently and quickly. We take American Express, Mastercard, Visa, Debit cards, personal checks with ID, and, of course cash.
We look forward to seeing you in the store, and thank your for you patronage.
